However, a new study finds the nutrients will not protect or prevent people from atrial fibrillation. Atrial Fibrillation affects about 2.7 million Americans and can lead to complications such as heart failure, blood clots, and/or stroke. The study results showed that these supplements do not support those thoughts however they do not increase the overall risk of atrial fibrillation and appear to be generally safe for patients who are taking these supplements for other reasons. Prior to this study, there had not been any clear evidence either way. The study reveals that the best way to help prevent issues such as atrial fibrillation is to focus on eating healthy, exercising regularly, and consistently following up with a health care professional.
